Director of Communications


Responsibilities: Serve as contact point for media. Prepare news releases, statements, testimony, op-ed columns, and informational publications. Contribute to and edit special, interim, and final reports to Congress. Advise management and Commissioners on communications issues.

Experience: Formerly professional staff member, U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Contributor and chief editor for Hurricane Katrina: A Nation Still Unprepared, the Committee’s 732-page report on preparations and responses to the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster. Staff advisor to Senator Susan Collins of Maine on banking, mortgage, and financial-regulation issues. Previously, coordinator of financial communications and supervisor of publications, Central Maine Power Company, where he edited and project-managed annual reports to investors for a decade and wrote the company’s centennial history, The Light from the River. Also served as staff writer and columnist for the Portland (Me.) Press Herald newspaper. Has taught courses in public speaking, argumentation and debate, and English composition.

Sloan Foundation fellowship in economics journalism, Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University; mid-career fellowship in American economic history, National Endowment for the Humanities; American Bankers Association fellowship, Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers University.
