This charter establishes the Commission under the authority of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

Please Note

The Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future (Commission) submitted its final report to the Secretary of Energy on January 26, 2012. The Commission’s work is now completed. This website will no longer be accepting public comments and will be maintained by the Department of Energy. The next phase of this process will be for the Administration and Congress to consider the Commission’s recommendations. The majority of the Commission’s recommendations require action to be taken by the Administration and Congress, and offer what the Commission believes is the best chance of success going forward. We are committed to seeing action taken on our recommendations, because we believe it is long past time for the government to make good on its commitments to the American people to provide for the safe disposal of nuclear waste. We are indebted to thousands of individuals and organizations who have offered us their expertise, advice and guidance over the past two years. We have received many helpful comments, and we appreciate the time that people have dedicated to helping the Commission address our nation’s nuclear waste issue. Thank you.
