As a German American. I have been asked for the past 60 years, “How could the Germans elect a racist, hate-mongering carnival barker like Hitler?” I used to answer, “I don’t know, but it could happen anywhere.”

Bikes vs. motorists

Two weeks ago and this past Saturday, I and dozens of other motorists were blocked in traffic near the area of Southwest 147th Avenue in the Redland. Both weekend gatherings required numerous county police officers with their vehicles stationed at every corner along the route.

Too many events

Wow, Miami-Dade’s planning for major events is just brilliant. Last weekend, the Miami Heat played the LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers at the Triple A; a quarter mile away, you had the Ultra Music Festival. At the Dolphin stadium, it was the Jazz in the Gardens, and let’s not forget the Key Biscayne Party.

Obama aids the GOP?

I’m enjoying the heck out of the pummeling the Grand Old Party is taking. They blew mustard gas onto President Obama for the last seven years, and now a bag of wind the size of a Macy’s Day balloon is blowing the poison back in their faces.
