On a cold night in late March of 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. found himself in a not so unfamiliar situation, running from the Klan. Earlier in the evening he had delivered a speech at a mass meeting in Greensboro, Alabama and was on his way back to Selma when he received the news that cars filled with armed men were on the lookout for him. There was also news that several churches had been burned to the ground. King quickly turned to an old ally, Mrs. Theresa Burroughs, for a safe house where he could weather the storm. With little thought, Mrs. Burroughs and her family, obliged.

North Logan School Teacher Dies in Car Crash

Leah Jan Tingey and her son Nyals Bodine died at the scene of the crash on U.S. Highway 30 in Idaho, according to Idaho State Police. They say Jan’s husband, Jeff Tingey, was also in the car and was transported to Portneuf Medical Center. They were hit by an 18-year-old driver from Idaho Falls.

Bernie Sanders' Performance In Utah May Depend On Millennials

Looking back on polling numbers for March of 2015 things were not looking good for presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders. He was pulling in just 5 percent of democratic voters support nationally compared to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s dominating 60 percent. In a Dan Jones & Associates poll of Utah voters, Sanders wasn't even mentioned, but rather lumped into the “others” category.


Utah has a fairly low rate of child abuse fatalities compared to the rest of the country, but nationwide there are an estimated 4 to 8 child abuse related deaths every day. A report, released Thursday, from the Commission to End Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities highlights which steps the government should be taking when addressing those deaths.

Letter Warns Of Potential Ballot Petition Fraud

Jonathan Johnson’s campaign manager has alleged that signature gatherers working for Gov. Gary Herbert may have used unethical means to get residents to sign the incumbent’s ballot access petition.

A letter detailing allegations of petition fraud were sent to Lt. Governor Spencer Cox, Attorney General Sean Reyes, and the state Republican Party. Dave Hansen, who is the head of Johnson’s campaign, said that he began hearing the rumors soon after the start of signature gathering.
