Department of Energy Relaunches Energy.gov

These back-end changes provide a scalable and flexible architecture that supports innovative, efficient online engagement.

In an exciting update to one of the Energy Department’s three cloud first initiatives, a crucial piece of the 25 Point Plan, the Department launched a new Energy.gov website today.

The new site was built using Drupal, an open source content management system, which allows for a cloud-hosting infrastructure on Blackmesh. These back-end changes provide a scalable and flexible architecture that supports innovative, efficient online engagement. For example, visitors will be able to find localized information and resources to help them save money and find opportunities in the new energy economy.

These efforts are also part of the Administration’s Campaign to Cut Waste, making a dedicated effort to streamline operations and save taxpayer dollars. This is a work in progress and as we continue to move additional features and content to the new platform, we’ll update this community on our efforts.

Michael W. Locatis III, Chief Information Officer at the Department of Energy.
