TARP Accounting

Treasury has committed a total of up to $475 billion in TARP funds, of which $158.1 billion is currently outstanding. The chart below displays current funding for several programs, as well as the current cap on foreclosure prevention payments.

TARP Metrics

The Panel tracks a number of metrics that are useful in assessing the effectiveness of TARP. The graph below displays foreclosure rates (the red line) and the Case-Shiller home price index (the blue line). In general, higher foreclosure rates and lower home prices indicate weakness in the housing market.
