Summers sees economy gaining stability

The US economy is showing tentative signs of stabilisation following aggressive programmes of monetary and fiscal stimulus, Barack Obama’s chief economic adviser said on Friday.

Lawrence Summers, director of the White House national economic council, stressed that the outlook remained uncertain and that the US economy would not recover quickly.
