2012 FOREST SERVICE REUNION
VAIL, COLORADO

Welcome to the 2012 Extravaganza!

The site of the 2012 Forest Service Reunion will be in Vail, Colorado at the Vail Mountain Marriott and the dates will be September 17-21, 2012.  This is an outstanding location and a wonderful facility.  The fall colors and scenery will be outstanding with the crispness of fall and the sparkle of Colorado blue skies.

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?

A message from Tom L. Thompson, Chair,
2012 Forest Service Reunion Committee
"Rendezvous in the Rockies, Vail 2012"

I was having a conversation with a "retiree" friend on the phone last week and mentioned the upcoming reunion here in Colorado this next September and he asked "What is so great about a Forest Service reunion? Why should I attend?" (READ MORE)

Silent Auction

A fun and traditional part of all previous reunions has been the silent auction fundraiser. sdeitemeyer@msn.com, Jim Ficke, Ann Bodine, and Denny Johnson are beginning to work with artisans, quilters, carvers, painters, and carpenters across the country to ensure that we have a wide variety of choices and make certain you can find that special remembrance to take home with you. Make Your Room Reservations EARLY

Reservations at the Vail Marriott are open. Visit the ACCOMMODATIONS PAGE to make your reservation. If you choose to call and make your reservation make sure and mention the Forest Service Reunion 2012 to get the best rate and assure we are credited with the reservation.

Volunteer Help Needed!

Would you like to volunteer for a few hours at the Rendezvous? From registration to close-out there are a variety of ways that you can serve. We are seeking volunteers to work in shifts for a few hours at a time so that no one is "on duty" for a long time. We estimate that 80 to 100 volunteers can be used during the week for a one-time shift helping with registration, guiding to events, assisting with the silent auction, assisting with field trips, etc. Volunteer recruitment will be formalized in the registration process beginning in February 2012. If you would like more information now, you may contact us at Volunteer@fsreunion2012.com .

Looking Forward, Looking Back

A message from Gray Reynolds, Museum President

Gray Reynolds, President, National Museum of Forest Service History"The National Museum of Forest Service History is honored to partner with the Vail 2012 Reunion. In the past year, we have received objects, papers and photographs donated by many Forest Service offices, retirees and family members.

Thanks to the Vail 2012 Reunion committee, the Museum will feature OLD TIMERS TALES in this space every month, in anticipation of the Rendezvous in the Rockies. Stories and photos submitted through the Reunion website will be collected by the Museum and included in our archives."
