05 Aug 08 - The purple loosestrife is flowering - go out there and get yourself some pollinator photos!

I've begun compiling this year's data, so expect to see tags added to your photos. I will upload the data here as soon as it is ready.

About Life on the Purple Loosestrife

Welcome to the Life on the Purple Loosestrife group!

This is the group photo pool for a Citizen Scientist project helmed by Jennifer Forman Orth. The goals of the project: 1) Use Flickr photographers to track organisms that are in or on the invasive plant Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), and 2) Show that a team of amateur and expert naturalists can do just as good of a job at collecting scientific data using photos as a bunch of biologists using their nets and traps!

Here are the rules:

1) Post shots of any insect, spider, plant, animal etc. that is on a purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) plant. Not sure what it looks like? Click here.
2) No posting limits EXCEPT: One photo per individual organism! Five different honeybees = OK. Five shots of the same honeybee = not OK.
3) Photos must be from your own camera!
4) Please consider sharing your photos under any one of the CC licenses except the ones that say "No Derivs." If I use the photos outside Flickr, it will be for educational purposes, and of course you will be clearly credited as the photographer.
5) Please tag your photos with the geographic location. I will come through and tag your photos with any missing data (species IDs, location ,etc.)
6) Have fun doing science!
