Welcome to the Marshall Space Flight Center Web site!

Marshall is one of NASA's biggest and most diverse field centers, with a vital role in our nation's space program.

Our crosscutting expertise in science and engineering provides the Agency with unique and critical capabilities to take the next giant leap in space exploration.

We are responsible for space shuttle propulsion elements, hardware and payload operations for the International Space Station and such science missions as the Discovery and New Frontiers programs and the Chandra X-ray Observatory. We will continue to lead the way in propulsion, science and discovery, in part because of our exceptional team of renowned experts and our many unique, specialized laboratories and facilities.

As a natural extension of our historical involvement in the Mercury, Apollo and shuttle programs, we are designing and developing America's next generation of launch vehicles. We are also developing specialized scientific spacecraft and participating in the Agency's new robotic lunar initiatives.

We have a distinctive mission. Our work is complex and intriguing, and we have an incredible team of talented and dedicated people who help drive our success.

Enjoy your visit on our Web site as you learn more about America's space program and the ways it benefits life on Earth.

This is an exciting time for Marshall, and we have a great story to tell.

Enjoy the journey!
