The National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) is a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service dataset that delineates and classifies wetlands from aerial photography. Nearly 100% of the mid-Atlantic states have been completed in digital form, and these can be viewed on-line via the new Wetlands Mapper hosted by the USFWS.
In an effort to increase the utility of the NWI dataset, the MAIN provides an interface that allows the user to download the NWI data by USGS hydrologic unit code (HUC). We hope that the NWI Viewer will promote the use of these data for watershed applications, and that by providing this information as processed GIS data we may save repetitive processing steps required for using it. The NWI data may be downloaded by USGS 1:24k quadrangle or for a custom area using the Wetlands Mapper.
