What is the National Fisheries Data Infrastructure?
The NFDI is an online resource which maps the presence of fish species across the United States.
Why develop the NFDI?
The NFDI brings local and regional fisheries data and species information together to one nationwide resource. This framework provides fisheries managers, decision-makers, and partners of the National Fish Habitat Action Plan with a mechanism that will enable a consolidated view of fish presence at a national level.
What can I do with the NFDI?
Users can query the NFDI by species, by Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) watershed, or by state. Query results can be exported to a text file or viewed on a map.
NFDI Fact Sheet
The National Fisheries Data Infrastructure supports the needs of fisheries managers and decision-makers by providing comprehensive data and information on fish species in the United States. Work is underway to incorporate new data sources, such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Fisheries Information System Populations Module.
