MOVING KNOWLEDGE TO ACTION
Solar Houston Initiative

The City of Houston is one of only 25 cities across the USA to be named a Solar America City by the US Department of Energy. HARC facilitates this program the Solar Houston Initiative, on behalf of the City. The project focuses on identifying and overcoming barriers associated with establishing a solar infrastructure that is incorporated into the overall energy system of the City. The City’s currently installed solar capacity is limited and needs to be consolidated into an overall plan in order to pursue a solar infrastructure strategy. By developing and implementing an organized plan, a road map, to making a solar infrastructure market transformation in the City, solar energy may become cost competitive by 2015 within Houston.
