MOVING KNOWLEDGE TO ACTION

CAM StationsAir Research Information Infrastructure

ARII combines Google Maps and Google Earth tools, data warehousing/On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) software, and data mining algorithms to enable researchers and the general public to access and analyze air quality observations, model predictions, and emissions inventories, including the visualization of air pollution trajectories in three dimensions. HARC will be assisted by Professor Perry Samson of the University of Michigan in enabling ARII to visualize air pollution trajectories and other air quality information in three dimensions using Google Earth tools.

Antoine Nguyen, Jay Olaguer, and Perry Sampson presented a Google-based prototype tool for the integrative visualization of meteorological and air quality information at a meeting held by the EPA Center for the Characterization of Eastern Texas Air Quality for the TexAQS-2 Experiment at the University of Houston Hilton on August 24, 2007.
