New Mexico State University is host to a variety of valuable and generally irreplaceable collections ranging from botanical and zoological specimens to artwork and anthropological artifacts. As such, these collections represent a "living" and dynamic library of information and an irreplaceable reference for study of past and present biological and geological diversity.

These collections not only serve NMSU, our state and region, but they provide a foundation for the global academic community that relies on the strength of regional collections to provide broad understanding of natural systems.

Milestones

Milestones over the last 10 years years for the CNHC include association with the NSF-funded project to data base biological specimens within New Mexico under the Institute of Natural Resource Analysis and Management (INRAM), the hiring of a university wide Collections Manager under INRAM and membership in the Natural Science Collections Alliance in Washington, DC.
