Up to 35 people have been killed by the Turkish air force in an attack along the country's south-eastern border with Iraq, with claims that the dead were smugglers mistaken for Kurdish militants.
The Turkish military confirmed it launched the strikes after unmanned drones spotted suspected rebels of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The deputy chairman of the governing Justice and Development party, Hüseyin Çelik, described the deaths as an 'unfortunate accident'.
