East DL Outlet Pipeline Installation Complete

At their Dec. 9 meeting in Bismarck, the North Dakota State Water Commission approved a $3 million cost-share request from Valley City for floodway property buy-outs. The Commission's contribution will cover 75 percent of the total $4 million cost of the first phase of this effort.

A report of the Missouri River Independent Expert Review Panel was released December 20, 2011.  The purpose of the report was to provide an analysis of the regulation of the Missouri River mainstem reservoir system during the 2011 flood events.

Composite Hydrograph

The Water Appropriation Division of the SWC monitors a network of over 4,000 observation wells, stream gages, and surface water sampling locations to keep tabs on water resource conditions throughout North Dakota. Shown here is a composite hydrograph of the entire ground-water monitoring network. It amalgamates every water level measurement stored in the SWC database to build this single hydrograph of ground-water level changes of the state as a whole.

The Story of Water in North Dakota was the topic of the 23rd Governor's Conference on North Dakota History presented by the State Historical Society of North Dakota.  This two-day conference was held at the Bismarck Civic Center, October 28 & 29, 2011. State Engineer Todd Sando's gave a presentation entitled ND's Water Management Challenges: Yesterday and Today.
