Leak Notification
Leak Notification – Sign Up Today

The Leak Notification Program is a new initiative that allows DEP to proactively alert customers to potential water leaks on their property. The program gives customers the opportunity to sign up online to receive email notifications when their water use increases significantly over a period of several days, enabling homeowners to quickly respond to potential leaks and fix them before they become a serious billing problem.

In order to enroll in our leak notification program:

  • You must own a tax class 1 property (one, two, or three family home)
  • Your property must have an Automated Meter Reading (AMR) device installed.

Follow these simple steps to sign up for leak notification:

  1. Click on the blue My DEP Account button at the top of this page.
  2. If you do not have an online account with DEP, just complete the simple registration process and login with your new user ID and password.
  3. Once you have logged in to My DEP Account, click on the green Enroll for Services tab at the top of the home page.
  4. Click the Leak Notification tab and select Yes, please enroll me in the leak notification program
  5. Then click Update. You will receive an email confirming your enrollment in the leak notification program.

Once you have registered, DEP will send you email notifications whenever we notice unusual spikes in your water usage that could indicate a leak.

REMEMBER – If you have any questions please call either 311 or DEP’s Call Center at 718-595-7000.  You can also send us an email at customerservice@dep.nyc.gov.
