BPA's Bayou Information Center

The BPA's Bayou Information Center provides the general public and interested public agencies, businesses, and NGOs a tool for accessing environmental information for coastal watersheds in Harris County, Texas. Users can also view the results of the BPA's Stream Ranking Project, which classified 2586 linear miles of waterways according to the relative degree of ecological integrity. The project also captured preliminary field data and ground photos documenting instream characteristics, stream bank and channel characteristics, and local watershed characteristics, including a visual biological survey. BPA plans to use this information to prioritize protection and restoration efforts. ESRI awarded BPA one of its 2001 Conservation Technology Support Program grants in recognition of their use GIS technology to promote conservation of urban streams and bayous.
