The National Fisheries Data Infrastructure (NFDI) is an online resource which seeks to map the presence of fish species across the United States at the 8th digit Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) scale.

Presently, there are five data sources represented within the NFDI:

  • Eastern Brook Trout Joint Venture
  • Multi-State Aquatic Resources Information System (MARIS)
  • Sturgeon Information Infrastructure
  • US Fish and Wildlife Service - Fisheries Information System (FIS)
  • Western Native Fish Database

Click "About NFDI" to learn more about this project and "Databases" to learn more about each of the NFDI component databases.

The NBII Program is administered by the Biological Informatics Office of the U.S. Geological Survey
