Estuaries.gov is an educational resource for learning and teaching about estuaries, managed and maintained by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERSS). It is an interagency site with several partners and programs, including the EPA's National Estuary Program. The site provides accurate, science-based information about estuaries and coastal issues, and includes a free online curriculum, current news, image and video libraries, data exploration, and additional resources.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency: Surf Your Watershed

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's "Surf Your Watershed" program integrates environmental information available by geographic units including state, watershed, county, metro area, and tribe.

The site provides access to three main databases:
1. Adopt Your Watershed, a database of watershed groups,
2. Wetlands Restoration Projects, which displays ongoing wetlands restoration,
3. Environmental Websites Database, a directory of websites dedicated to environmental issues and information.

Google Earth, a geographic mapping application powered by Google technology, has added the world's oceans to its user interface. Users can now plunge below the ocean's surface and virtually explore the ocean's varied underwater terrain. The Google Earth Oceans interface features videos and articles about marine science, as well as information about surfing, diving, and coastal travel locations.

The Surfrider Foundation is a "non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education". The Foundation's core activities center around protecting quality of and access to oceans, waves, and beaches. Their award-winning educational program, Respect the Beach (RTB), explains beach ecology, coastal areas stewardship, and watershed processes to K-12 students and community groups.
