The BUZZ: Celebrating Bees!

As we head into a season of celebration, it’s important to remember that every third bite of food we consume during the holiday season is the result of a hard-working pollinator. We think that during these festive times, it’s great to take opportunities to learn about bees and the work they do, and to pass this information on to others.

Our December deadline for pre-ordering the fabulous Beautiful Bumble Bee note cards is approaching. These cards come 15 to the set and feature three designs by celebrated artist Noel Pugh. You can order sets separately, and we are offering wholesale pricing at this time for orders of 15 sets or more. This could be an opportunity to acquire a stash of these great note card sets to re-sell or gift to groups at a great price. Click on our bumble bee drawing to order here www.greatsunflower.org

Celeste Ets-Hokin and photographer Rollin Coville who created the previous year's Bee calendars have produced a perpetual calendar that they are selling independently this year. They have generously decided to donate 8% of their proceeds to the Great Sunflower Project. As most of you know, their calendars are wonderful resources for learning about bees and Rollin's images are fantastic.
Garden Variety Bees CalendarGarden Variety Bees Calendar
Garden Variety Native Bees of North America is both a guide to some of our more common native bees and a gardening calendar that never goes out of date. It is set up as a
“perpetual calendar” so it includes the dates in each month, but not the days of the week. Use this calendar to keep month to month, and even year to year comparative garden notes. It's a great way to record your observations of the bloom times and other characteristics of the bee-friendly plants you include in your garden, along with reminders to observe bee visits in your garden and send in your data! Celebrating our pollinator allies is always in season. Here are great two great ways to learn and share while supporting the Great Sunflower Project. Now is the time to order. We hope you enjoy!

All the best,
