Moles (family Talpidae)

Moles are members of the taxonomic family Talpidae. Family Talpidae is further divided into smaller groups called genera. According to NatureServe Explorer database records, three genera of shrews occur in Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. These genera include genus Condylura (star-nosed moles), genus Parascalops (hairy-tailed moles), and genus Scalopus (Eastern Moles).
