Herbarium and Museum of Zoology

The APSU herbarium consists of some 30,000 specimens of vascular plants, lichens and mosses. Local plants are emphasized, but much of the southeastern U.S. flora is represented. It is a valuable resource for work in plant identification and ecology. The collections are used in most botany courses, and facilities are available for individual research. Many student collections become part of this permanent botanical museum.

The museum of zoology houses an extensive collection of cataloged amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals from Tennessee and Kentucky. These specimens (many contributed by students) are used in teaching and research. Both the herbarium and the museum of zoology provide employment for student workers.
