Vredenburg Lab

Amphibian Biodiversity and Conservation

The research in my lab focuses broadly on the ecology, evolution and conservation of amphibians. We incorporate elements of population, community, and behavioral ecology in order to investigate the impacts of emerging infectious disease, introduced predators, and habitat loss on threatened amphibians. We typically use field-based experimental and comparative approaches to test hypotheses. Current research directions incorporate questions involving the following topics:

·       Ecology of emerging infectious disease

·       Introduced species effects on aquatic-terrestrial food web linkages

·       Climate change effects on estuarine food webs

·       Phylogeography, using genetics, morphology, and behavior

·       Ecology and conservation of populations in fragmented landscapes
