PBIN is actively involved in community-based approaches to informing and empowering citizens to impact current conservation efforts in Hawaii. USGS staff have assisted with the training of instructors and students at the K - 12 and university level, offering courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, and the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.
