Burbot Captured in Green River (Aug 6, 2010)
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
On Jul 28, researchers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources found a 21-inch burbot in the Green River below Flaming Gorge dam. Burbot are not native to Utah and are a voracious predator, capable of breeding in both rivers and reservoirs. As a result, they can have a serious impact on both native and sport fish populations. The Division has placed a catch and kill regulation on the fish for anglers, there is no limit to the amount caught; the burbot may not be released and must be killed immediately.

Quagga Mussel May Have Been Found in Sand Hollow (May 22, 2010)
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
Divers have found what appears to be a live adult quagga mussel in Sand Hollow Reservoir. To protect other lakes and reservoirs in Utah, the state has issued an Aquatic Invasive Species Closure Order (PDF | 124 KB), requiring a mandatory decontamination process for all boats leaving the reservoir. See Invasive Mussels: Threats and prevention efforts in Utah for more information.

Zebra Mussel Advisory - Requirements on Lake Powell
DOI. NPS. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
In response to the continued and growing threat of the introduction of quagga and zebra mussels at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, effective Nov 1, 2009, self-certification of watercraft will no longer be an option at Wahweap Main and Bullfrog launch ramps and screening for the invasive mussels by trained personnel will be mandatory for all vessels.
