This list is open for membership to any person with an interest in the insect, mite, nematode or plant disease problems that occur in Florida. The list is used to inform subscribers of additions and updates to the UF/IFAS Pest Alert WWW site that is maintained by the UF/IFAS Entomology and Nematology Department, but which contains information contributed by various departments and research centers at UF/IFAS as well as significant contributions by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and its subagency, the Division of Plant Industry.

The listserv then sends a message requesting a reply to verify the subscription process. Simply use a REPLY command, with the letters:
in the text.
Then the listserv sends a message stating you have been added to the list. Save this reply in case you wish to unsubscribe from the list in the future.

Replying to any e-mail sent from the list and asking to unsubscribe will not unsubscribe you from the list. You must follow the instructions listed above to unsubscribe.
Replying to a message from the list will not send a message to the entire list because........
This is a moderated list, in that any messages sent to the list by a subscriber or anyone else will be sent first to the list owner, who will then decide if the message should be sent to the entire list. (And the list owner can't even remember the last time he approved such a request.) This will prevent list subscribers from receiving any junk e-mail or non-approved recommendations for pest control.
Since spammers have discovered the address of the listserv, do not send news to the list as such messages are sent to the list owners trash box. Instead, information contributors should send news to the list owner's e-mail address, which is listed at the bottom of main page.
Protection is set so that only the listserv owner can review the e-mail addresses of the listserv subscribers.
