What are Invasive Plant Species? Invasive Plant Species are any species of plant, animal, or microorganism newly introduced into an area with an existing ecology, that then outcompetes native species for natural resources. Invasive species usually have few or no natural predators in this new environment, and can reproduce and spread rapidly.
The NBII Program is administered by the Biological Informatics Program of the U.S. Geological Survey
