Included in the zip file (568 mb) is the PAD-US shp, exported from the geodatabase with all coded domain descriptions reassigned (no numbers), and the layer files to assist with symbolization (owner, GAP, IUCN). |

Data for earlier state and regional projects |
GAP data sets for earlier state and regional projects are also available. Generally it is advisable to use the most current national data, but we maintain archives of the earlier data so that researchers may access it easily:
1. Regional datasets
Regional datasets are available for:
- Northwestern US – NW GAP Regional Website>> (includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming)
- Southwestern US – SW Regional GAP Website>> (includes Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico)
- Southeastern US – SE Regional GAP Website>> (State download pages: Alabama – Florida – Georgia – Kentucky – Mississippi – North Carolina – South Carolina – Tennessee – Virginia)
- Alaska – Alaska GAP Website>>
2. State-level data from original GAP projects
These are the data from the original state GAP projects. These datasets consist of land cover, stewardship species distribution models, and assorted ancillary data, clipped to a state boundary. Land cover maps were compiled using Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper satellite imagery. The data are in ESRI arcgrid or shapefile format. These data should not be considered current.
Download state data here >> (opens an FTP site directory with folders for each state)
3. Aquatic GAP data
The aquatic component of GAP builds upon the methodologies of the terrestrial GAP to compile information on aquatic ecosystems across the United States. Aquatic GAP takes into account the interrelationships between land and water and provides a mechanism for examining aquatic systems within a landscape. Learn more about Aquatic GAP >>
