Herbarium Database

The Herbarium Database contains information on a substantial portion of NTBG’s entire Herbarium Collections. This data is searchable using basic criteria, such as family, genus, and/or geographic area and/or, for those more familiar with the collection, the specimen identification number, collector name, or collector identification. It also affords searching for type specimens.

Geographical coordinates of the collections may be made available to bona fide researchers upon request, which should be submitted to the Curator of the Herbarium.

Currently high-quality images of all type specimens of vascular plants are available through the Web database, to be viewed using Zoomify™. This allows zoom-and-pan for up-close interactive viewing of the specimen over the Web. Images of other selected groups will be added incrementally in the future.
