Welcome to the Galveston Bay Estuary Program Web site!  Here you will learn about Galveston Bay and its value to the Texas economy, the challenges we face as Bay users, and your role in conserving this natural resource.  Be sure to watch A Day on Galveston Bay and visit the Discover Galveston Bay, Citizens' and Volunteers', and Info for Bay User Groups pages.

The Galveston Bay Estuary Program — a non-regulatory program administered by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) — is committed to preserving Galveston Bay for generations to come. Established in 1989, we are one in a network of twenty-eight U.S. National Estuary Programs (NEPs) created to guide the conservation and restoration of estuaries of national significance.

The Estuary Program and its partners — local, state, and federal governments, businesses, industry, universities, conservation organizations and citizens — work together to implement the Galveston Bay Plan, a 20-year, science-based plan designed to protect and restore Galveston Bay.

Please join the Estuary Program and its partners to protect Galveston Bay!  Click here to learn how.
