Arkansas Project Learning Tree

State affiliate of nationwide PLT comprehensive environmental pre-K-12 education program, which is designed for both urban and rural environments, regardless of the abundance of trees. PLT uses the forest as a "window" into the natural world and a platform for teaching students how to think, not what to think about their natural environment.  Curricula (PLT guide, resource materials, and practical, hands-on training) are introduced by arranging with the listed Arkansas state PLT representative to attend a workshop or university course nearby.

Arkansas Project WET

State affiliate of nation-wide K-12 environmental education program for traditional and non-traditional students. A calendar of upcoming workshops is available; curricula are introduced through workshops of 10 or more participants registered for by contacting the state Project WET coordinator. Central themes of the program: water is important to all users, water management is critical for maintaining socioeconomic stability, and awareness of water resources encourages lifelong participation in environmental issues.

Arkansas-Project WILD

State affiliate of nation-wide K-12 interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education program emphasizing wildlife . The Basic WILD curriculum, over 150 activities, as well as classroom posters and handout materials are introduced through free-of-charge workshops registered for by contacting the state coordinator.

Project WET - New Mexico

State affiliate of nation-wide Project WET program, a K-12 environmental education program utilizing water as its theme. Advanced curricula available are The "Conserve Water" Educator's Guide, The Watershed Manager Educator's Guide, Discover a Watershed: The Rio Grande/Rio Bravo, and Healthy Water Healthy People (water quality). All curricula are introduced via workshops offered locally throughout the state, with more than 20 local Project WET facilitators' contact information available

Project WILD- New Mexico

State affiliate for the nationwide K-12 interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education program emphasizing wildlife. Listed are upcoming workshops and contact information for the state coordinator. Educators receive the Project WILD and Aquatic WILD Activity Guides as well as practical training. Also available are suggestions on how to start your own Schoolyard Wildlife Habitat Project, and information on Aquatic Resources Education.

Texas Project Learning Tree

The PLT comprehensive environmental pre-K-12 education program is designed for both urban and rural environments, regardless of the abundance of trees. TEKS and TAKS correlations to the PLT program in addition to examples of curricula are available here. Available for download is the PLT Information Form, allowing teachers to enroll in a workshop in which they are introduced to the PLT guide, resource materials, and practical, hands-on training.

Council For Environmental Education

CEE is a founding sponsor of Project Learning Tree, Project WILD, Project WILD Aquatic, and Project WET, and is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1970. It administers Project WILD, Project WILD Aquatic, and WET in the City, and has a web-based submittal form for sharing thoughts and ideas.

Wonders of the Wetland (WOW!)

Recommended by the NAAEE as an excellent resources for wetland issues and definitions. WOW! is an instructional guide for educators that provides a resourceful and creative collection of wetland activities, information, and ideas. WOW! includes: over 50 hands-on multidisciplinary activities in lesson plan format, extensive background information on wetlands, ideas for student action projects, and a wetlands resource guide.

BEN BioSciEdNet

The BEN Collaborative, spearheaded by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and composed of professional societies and coalitions for biology education, is developing a revolutionary approach for transforming biology teaching and learning in undergraduate and graduate institutions, as well as in professional schools. Through the development of a BEN portal site, the BEN Collaborative provides searchable and seamless access to the digital library collections of its Partners to provide users with accurate and reliable biology education resources.

Texas Parks and Wildlife

TPWD oversees parks and wildlife management and administers licenses for fishing, hunting, and boating in Texas. Under the Teacher Tool Kit link, lesson plans/activities for subjects such as ecological concepts, terrestrial ecology, aquatic activities, archeology, and journal and creative writing are available. Classroom posters and fact sheets are downloadable (pdf) for free. The Urban Outdoor Programs is intended to provide outdoor excursions for teachers and their students. Also available is an online freshwater fish identification guide.

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

TCEQ regulates air, water, and land pollutants as well as natural resources for the state of Texas. At the K-12 Education link, a large quantity of curricula resources are available including lesson plans for teaching environmental science, school-wide recycling programs, games, coloring books, posters, and fact sheets, the majority of which cost $5.00 or less.
