Welcome to the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center (GNFAC) web site. This site is brought to you by the Friends of the GNFAC, a non-profit with a mission to support avalanche awareness and education through a partnership with the GNFAC.
Based in Bozeman, Montana, the GNFAC covers an area of approximately 10,000 km2, including the Bridger, Gallatin, Madison, and Washburn Ranges, the Lionhead area near West Yellowstone, and the mountains around Cooke City. (See Map)
The goal of this site is to help provide the public with current avalanche, snowpack and mountain weather information, as well as provide basic avalanche education.
