Airport Check-in: Delays, Cost Overruns Plague Air Traffic Control Upgrade

The Federal Aviation Administration is experiencing schedule delays and cost overruns in its effort to develop a modern air traffic control system, an inspector general's report said last week.

"FAA needs to tighten up its oversight of this critical and costly modernization program. Delay in delivering NextGen benefits is unacceptable," said Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., the incoming chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, in a statement.
