Mark Shriver, chairman of the National Commission on Children and Disasters, joined with Craig Fugate, administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to preview a report to President Barack Obama and Congress that proposes new strategies to meet the unique needs of children affected by disasters. They outlined the challenges for disaster planning, response and recovery. Mr. Shriver and Mr. Fugate responded to questions submitted by members of the audience. Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu also spoke in response to questions about congressional actions and the situations of children after Hurricane Katrina.
