Trout Unlimited Commends Alaska Board of Fisheries for Adopting Statewide Phase Out of Felt Sole Wading Products (Mar 19, 2010)

The Alaska Board of Fisheries has adopted a statewide phase out of felt sole wading products, effective Jan 1, 2012, to guard against the spread of aquatic invasive species. Alaska is the first state in the nation to ban the use of felt sole wading products.

If established in Alaska, green crabs could
pose a serious threat to native crabs, including
the young of commercial crabs, as well as to
clam and oyster fisheries.

threat in Alaskan Waters
Alaska Department of Fish & Game.
Captured
Atlantic salmon should NOT be cleaned but
delivered whole to the nearest Alaska Department
of Fish and Game office. Please also notify
ADF&G staff of any Atlantic
salmon observed in Alaskan streams or rivers.
