Vegetating with Native Grasses in Northeastern North America

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) of the United States Department of Agriculture jointly released Revegetating with Native Grasses in 1995 and have collaborated again to produce this reference: Vegetating With Native Grasses in Northeastern North America. There are some distinct challenges to success with native grasses in the east, as well was unique rewards. This handbook attempts to capture both. USDA-NRCS Plant Materials Program would like to thank Ducks Unlimited Canada for the use of this manual and permitting the posting of this publication to the Plant Materials Program website.

Native Understory Forbs and Grasses for Pollinator and Insect Utilization in Southeastern Longleaf Pine Ecosystems

Pollination by insects is crucial to the production of multiple crops in the United States. Biologists have recorded dramatic declines in insect pollinators, especially our native bees. National efforts are underway to conserve and enhance pollinator habitat as well as the longleaf pine ecosystem.

The Jimmy Carter Plant Materials Center, Americus, Georgia and the East National Technology Support Center, Greensboro, North Carolina recently prepared this document, which lists commercially available understory longleaf pine forbs and companion grasses to enhance pollinator habitat within that ecosystem.
