Reasons for postponing MPMI Kyoto to July 2012

We would like to postpone the meeting to the summer 2012 and we think this is the only alternative we can take.
Reasons are the followings:

1. We have to cancel the 2011 Kyoto meeting in August since registration is so low thatit is financially not feasible. And we could not reserve a Kobe conference center in November.

2. We talked to the conference center in Kyoto and found that if we cancel the summer meeting and will not use it for the meeting later we have to pay 120,000$ for cancellation. We just cannot pay this much money. This means we will have to have a meeting in Kyoto conference center some time later.

3. We asked the Kyoto conference center for possible alternative dates and found that summer 2012, July 29-August 2 is open and this is the only dates available in 2012.

4. We have to have a meeting in Japan since we already received some money from various foundations or industries as donations and for exhibits.

Therefore, we feel that this is the only financially feasible solution. We would like to essentially keep the same scientific program and have a safe and exciting meeting. I feel that we will have a good attendance since we will have more than a year from now and everying willbecome normal by then.

XV IS-MPMI Kyoto moves to July 2012

Dear colleague
After discussions with the members of Board of Directors of IS-MPMI, international advisory committee, Asian, and national organizing committees we decided to postpone XV IS-MPMI conference originally scheduled in August 2011 to July 2012. The venue will be the same conference center in Kyoto and the dates will be July 29 (Sunday)-August 2 (Thursday), 2012. We apologize for inconvenience created by this decision. We can fully refund registration fees and charges for congress dinner, excursion and hotel room reservation which you paid for through our web site. We hope that you understand the situation and come to Kyoto for the conference in July 2012.
