Welcome to the website of the Prisons Foundation. We are one of the oldest and most established 501 (c)(3) nonprofit prisoner art advocacy groups in the nation!
The Prisons Foundation is a division of the Safe Streets Arts Foundation which also incorporates the Victims Foundation.
Site updated AUGUST 2009
Check out our new "Behind the Wall" page where we profile prisoner and ex prisoner artists and justice advocates! This month we talk with artist-in-demand Anthony Dye. Mr. Dye is a prolific artist whose "outsider art" is highly sought by collectors. Anthony's style is highly praised for its restrained detail, balanced use of objects and bombastic metaphors and color-play; all of which is used to create unusual themes. A real-life artistic genius, Anthony commands the awe and respect of both artists, collectors and justice advocates (all while creating art behind bars!). Mr Dye works closely with the Prisons Foundation.

A top professional with an impressive background in theater, justice advocacy and education has joined our team to help make this year's

This year's program promises to be even bigger and better and will feature an introduction written specifically for the event by renowned activist Mumia Abu Jamal!
Our deadline for submissions has passed and we appreciate the hundreds of scripts, plays and theatrical sketches we received.
Our Review Committee is now in the final stages of selecting works for the program.
The "From Prison to the Stage" Program attracts an international audience and wide press coverage, and this year we have sent an invitation to First Lady
Michelle Obama to join us along with a long list of distinguished guests which includes familiar civil rights activists, prison reform advocates and more than a few surprise guests.
The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts each year on Labor Day
weekend hosts the Page-To-Stage Festival, of which our
From-Prison-to-the-Stage Show has been a part. From-Prison-to-the-Stage

NEWSLETTER-
In addition to showcasing prison art, we publish the (albeit sporadically)
newsletter that profiles imprisoned artists and
reports criminal justice developments, including victim assistance programs
that our artists support.
Make Money While Making a Difference in Prisons Across America: is our latest book, and it's for anyone who wants to operate a Prison Art Gallery
satellite sales and information center. Such centers, known as Prison Art Kiosks, display and sell arts and crafts made by imprisoned male and female
artists from across America. The Kiosks also offer books, information and literature on ways to improve prison conditions, rehabilitation programs,
victim assistance, and the re-entry of released prisoners to society. This is an ideal investment, a great new career, a chance to make a great
difference while making a good living.
