Shopping the mall this Tax-Free weekend? Here's when to go

The Woman's Hospital of Texas is ending the summer in style with the
sixth annual Labor Day Luncheon and Style Show Saturday (Aug. 29) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Intercontinental Hotel. The feminine fete
benefits the March of Dimes and features the Boutique Bazaar, a
lobby-wide market with stores such as Lot 8, Willow and Très Chic
participating, a fashion show, style presentation by image consultant
Cathy Fitzpatrick Cleary and much-anticipated goodie bags. Tickets are

Tax-free weekend is here and malls are gearing up for eager shoppers
by extending their hours. Read on to make your shopping plans.

*Katy Mills Mall is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday
(Aug. 21-22) and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 23). Newly opened
stores include Forever 21, Calvin Klein, U.S. Polo Assn, Blackfly,

Tax Free. It's just not for kids!

Catching up with Trina Turk, shopping treats for teachers

Contemporary clothing designer Trina Turk is a darling of
girls-about-town because of her stylish and effortless, go-anywhere
clothing. Turk will be bringing her California cool to Houston,
stopping at some of the city's best boutiques.

Turk is the guest of honor at Dress for Success Houston's Sixth Annual
Sizzling Summer Soiree at Tootsies Wednesday (Aug. 19). Shopping,
bites, sips and an opportunity to chat with Turk highlight the party.
Ten percent of the proceeds benefits Dress for Success Houston and the soiree is free for Women of Wardrobe members (the young professional group that supports Dress for Success Houston through volunteerism and fundraising) $45 for non-members and $75 for those interested in joining W.O.W. *For many teachers, the summer zips by entirely too fast and they too,
are faced with back-to-school shopping, so stores are giving teachers
a break. Stein Mart is holding Teacher Appreciation Week from Aug.

Anne Taylor Loft also wants teachers to look good and save money with its Loft Loves Teachers program. Register and receive discounts, special offers, invitations to private store events and access to members-only message boards.

The Container Store is giving teachers a chance to start the school
year with a clean slate during the Organized Teacher Discount Program.
Through Sept. 7, teachers can save 15 percent on organization and

*Even if you're not going back-to-school, wouldn't it be nice to save
money on a new pair of jeans? Barney's Co-Op is giving shoppers 20
percent off a pair of full-priced jeans through the end of August when
