Afghanistan Votes in Second Presidential Election

Afghanistan's voters went to the polls on Aug. 20, 2009, after the top presidential contenders spent weeks holding rallies and campaign speeches. Voter turnout in the capital was noticeably lower than in the 2004 presidential election, possibly due to fears of Taliban attacks.
