Consolidating Federal IT Infrastructure

As part of the Administration’s 25-Point Implementation Plan to Reform Federal IT Management, the government plans to shut down at least 1,200 of the 3,133 data centers it owns and operates. To date, the government has shut down 250 data centers and plans to close a total of 479 by the end of fiscal year 2012.
