US import prices rise 0.7% in August, while US export prices advance 0.9%

U.S. import prices rose 0.7 percent in August, after declining 0.7 percent the previous month. The August increase was the first advance in overall import prices since a 1.4 percent rise in March. Export prices also increased in August, rising 0.9 percent following a 0.4 percent advance in July.

In June private employers spent $1.02 per hour worked for employee retirement benefits

Private industry employers spent an average of $28.80 per hour worked for employee compensation in June 2012. Wages and salaries averaged $20.27 and benefits averaged $8.52, of which retirement and savings plans averaged $1.02 per hour worked.
