Keeping Your Information Current – An Important Note to Physicians and Other Healthcare Professionals

The primary source of the information in this database is the Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System (PECOS). Physicians and other healthcare professionals submit their own information to PECOS. If your information is incorrect or has changed, please identify your issue from the left and follow the recommended action. Having incorrect information displayed may limit patients’ ability to find or contact your practice, and you should check your information on a regular basis to make any updates necessary.

If you have any other issues, please send your updated information using our feedback tool. When you send your updated information, please include name, specialty, practice location address(es), and any available contact information.

If You Can’t Find Your Listing: Common Fixes

If you are enrolled in Medicare but missing from the Web site, it is likely caused by one of these 3 issues:

  1. You are enrolled in Medicare but do not yet have an enrollment record established in PECOS. To resolve this issue, you will need to submit an enrollment application. Use the link "Listing Missing from Directory" then review the section titled: "Missing from the Web site but are currently a Medicare enrolled provider – no PECOS record."
  2. You are enrolled in Medicare and have an enrollment record in PECOS but no practice location has been recorded in PECOS. An address must be listed in PECOS to display you on the Web site because searches are done by geographic area. To resolve this issue, you will need to update PECOS with your address location. Visit "Practice Locations" for more detailed information.
  3. You are enrolled in Medicare and have an enrollment record in PECOS but no specialty information has been listed in PECOS. Specialty information must be listed in PECOS to display you on the Web site because searches are based on specialty. To resolve this issue, you will need to update PECOS with your specialty information. Visit "Specialty" for more detailed information.
