About Me
Since November 5th, 2009, I have been proud to represent the people of Northern California's 10th Congressional District, which includes all or portions of Alamo, Antioch, Bethel Island, Birds Landing, Canyon, Concord, Dixon, El Cerrito, Elmira, Fairfield, Isleton, Kensington, Knightsen, Lafayette, Livermore, Moraga, Oakley, Orinda, Pleasant Hill, Suisun City, Walnut Creek, and Walnut Grove. I sit on the House Armed Services and Natural Resources committees.

Prior to my election to Congress, I served as California's Lieutenant Governor, where I chaired the California State Lands Commission and California Commission for Economic Development and served as a University of California regent and California State University trustee.

I have also served eight years as California's State Insurance Commissioner, three years as Deputy Interior Secretary under President Bill Clinton, and 16 years as a state legislator.
