Rep. John Culberson (TX-07) issued the following statement on the death of Neil Armstrong:
“This past weekend, we lost a great American, Neil Armstrong. Commander Armstrong will forever be remembered as the man who took ‘one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.’ In doing so, he cemented American leadership in space and claimed a magnificent achievement for the free world in a very uncertain time.
“Watching with my family as Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon was a transformational moment for me and inspired me to one day find a way to help America’s space program in whatever way I could.
“I salute Commander Armstrong and pledge to do everything in my power to honor his heroism by helping restore American leadership in space.”
