WASHINGTON, DC –
Today, on the eleventh anniversary of the September 11th terrorist bombings, Congressman and Army veteran Mike Pompeo (KS-04)  reflected on the murder of nearly 3,000 Americans who perished that day as well as the brave actions of our first responders.  Today also marks Patriot Day.  On Patriot Day, American flags in the nation’s capital and across the country are flown at half staff and a moment of silence is observed at 8:46 AM EDT.

Congressman Pompeo released the following statement:

“Today we remember the heinous attacks perpetrated against our nation by terrorists who murdered nearly 3,000 innocent men, women, and children on September 11th, 2001.  We pay tribute to the victims of 9/11 on this day and also commend the heroic service of our first responders who worked tirelessly to aid in the aftermath of those attacks.

“Last year, America rejoiced when Seal Team Six brought Osama Bin Laden to justice, but we must remain ever vigilant as the threat of terrorism remains ever present.  Men and women in the Armed Forces, as well as our intelligence community, make tremendous sacrifices to provide  security for our nation.  We give thanks for their dedication to country,” stated Pompeo.
