Lupus Canada

Lupus Canada is a national voluntary organization formed in 1987 and dedicated to raising awareness and educating people about lupus.

According to the website (www.lupuscanada.org), lupus is the disease with a thousand faces. Lupus is a chronic disease whose symptoms can include extreme fatigue, joint pain, mouth ulcers, chest pain and hair loss.

Program objectives:
  1. Advocacy: Share information through the website, which allows people with lupus and those who care for them to better understand the disease and the support and resources available to them.
  2. Public Awareness: Spread awareness of lupus through a Public Service Announcement (PSA), an annual Patient Symposium, new strategies in advertising and events at schools, health and wellness fairs and service clubs.
  3. Research: Provide opportunities to fund lupus researchers through relationships with other organizations.
  4. Volunteers: Recruit and recognize opportunities for volunteers to participate and use their special skills on behalf of Canadians living with lupus.
  5. Fundraising: Support the Walk a Block annual fundraising initiative, which takes place in communities across Canada in conjunction with World Lupus Day.
