Lupus International

Lupus International was founded to eradicate lupus by supporting research, services and the search for a cure. It is located in Southern California in the heart of one of the USA’s leading medical research and biotech areas.

The Lupus International Foundation was incorporated in 1983 as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status organization dedicated to the service and support of lupus patients, their families, their doctors and the research community. What began in the Los Angeles area has spread throughout California and around the world.

The Righteous Brothers' Bobby Hatfield, who died of a heart attack in 2003, became an active fund-raiser for Lupus International after his wife was diagnosed with the disease. He hosted many golf tournaments and concerts for the cause.

Program objectives:
  1. Provide patient services and support groups to help people with lupus live fuller, more productive lives.
  2. Advocate for those in need and those who help those in need.
  3. Heighten awareness of early detection of undiagnosed cases.

Donations fund support groups, public outreach and research. Membership in Lupus International is available through the website. Members receive a subscription to a quarterly magazine, free admission to lectures and symposia, advance notice about the annual Lupus Race for Life and notification of all special events to benefit lupus patients.
